Kamji Central School was officially established as a SEN school on October 8, 2014. Kamji CS joined the Special Education Program and through the Bhutan Foundation’s special education summer Conference, was able to gain guidance on setting up their SEN resource room, establishing a SEN Team and Coordinator and running a parent orientation program to strengthen the understanding and support of the parents. In addition, through the Bhutan Foundation’s Training of Trainers Program, trainers that included teachers from other SEN schools, the Ministry of Education trained teachers and the principal of Kamji CS were able to enhance their understanding of special education and how to best serve students with learning difficulties. Kamji CS is still in its early stages of development as a SEN school and requires more resources and training to better serve the needs of their students.
