Zhemgang Lower Secondary School

Zhemgang Lower Secondary School is guided by the vision to provide appropriate education for all kinds of learners in a safe and non-discriminatory environment. The teachers give extra attention to students with special needs under Individual Educational Plans (IEP). The school encourages parental involvement in their child’s health and education so that the student can be provided with appropriate learning programs. The Special Education Program at Zhemgang Lower Secondary School started in 2008 as one of the first five special education needs (SEN) schools in the country.

Through the Bhutan Foundation’s Special Education Program, teachers at Zhemgang LSS have been able to develop their skills as special education teachers and leaders, and use appropriate interventions and resources to better assist the learning of their students. However, there is an increasing demand for training and need for resources to better serve the needs of their students.
